No surprise for many movie-goers and those who eagerly awaited the release of the newest installment of Batman, the Dark Knight was number one in box-office sales this weekend.
An overall record of $253 million was set--beating the $218 million record set in July of 2006. However, according to Media By Numbers, a company that tracks box-office sales, the Dark Knight only grossed more than Spiderman 3 due to higher ticket prices.
But the Dark Night still beat Spiderman 3's record for best debut in an IMAX at $6.2 million.
People are not done seeing the Dark Knight, either as shows continue to be sold out.
